Dr Zeus, Tigerstyle and some more to come...

Jugni Ji- Kanika Kapoor, Dr Zeus Feat Shortie

Firstly I have to say its a long awaited track by Dr Zeus, last one I can remember is Zindabaad Ft Sharmila, released summer 2011 ( don't quote me on that). So I have got to admit I was rather excited when I first heard this track!
Ok so who is Kaninka Kapoor, well from what I have found is, that she is a Bollywood actress and stared in ONE film 'Seducing Maarya 1999' (no I have not seen it, not a Bollywood fan) and we all know about Shortie, he is a rapper and has featured on a FEW of Dr Zeus's tracks (Kagna /Zindabaad etc etc) , .. I do wonder if he can understand Punjabi?

So about the track, first impression NOPE I DID NOT LIKE IT! Honestly I was like what is she saying? Even after several repeats I am still a little puzzled to what the lyrical content of this song in fact is? Yes I know its a rip off from the original by Arif Lohar and Misha Shafi, but despite that, can anyone understand what she is saying in this version?! NOO? Right?

Okay so what is Jungi? For all those readers that may not be aware, Jugni is a folk Punjabi term, and has traditionally been used as a metaphor/ name for a woman/ girl. Although actual fact Jugnu is the Punjabi term for fire fly.
Staying on the subject of what she is saying, sadly at this point I cant offer a full translation simply because I am struggling to understand the chorus of the song.
At 2 minutes into the song, it slows down and YES finally what Kanika Kapoor is saying makes some sense. 'Jugni dig payeh vich rohee..'- translated means ' she fell and is crying. ' Roh roh kamlee hohee'- translated meaning 'she has gone mad crying' and after that.. NOPE cant make proper sense of it.. any one that can (comment below).
So lets get past not understanding what the hell she is really saying, the beat and the production of the track, i admit is very catchy and different from OTHER songs out on the Bhangra circuit at the moment. It does not have that traditional feel to it at all, in the sense there is no Dhol or Tumbi. If anything it could cater to the Bollywood market.. guess Dr Zeus is jumping on the bandwagon too! Why not, its working for RDB!

The Video: Videos are a touchy subject for me! This video is all set in a studio, following the stereotypical flash car and attractive female with a bunch of people dancing around! Not forgetting the odd shot of Dr. Zeus! The video is not a bad video, guess its basic and to the point, does not add or take away from the song..Although to be fair, you couldn't have had Bhangra dancers to this song could you?

Overall will I be playing this song in my car? Maybe, I have to admit even though I don't know what she is saying, its a catchy song, although sadly I cant see it being a massive hit for Zeus! Sorry..

Kudi- Tigerstlye Featuring Rani Randeep

Another long awaited song by Tigerstyle, honestly I am SOOO disappointed! It pains me to say it because I am a big Tigerstyle fan, but this is simply not my cup of tea!

I do like the Dub-step feel to this song, its new, cant say I have heard a lot of Dub-step with Bhangra so yes it does work. Vocals on the track are amazing, Rani Randeep is a great traditional Punjabi singer. The song itself, lyrically is great!
Basically she is singing about Punjabi girls dancing, and the pride that goes with it!

HOW THE HELL is this reflected in the video?! O M G was I laughing when I saw the video, the lyrics and video are like chalk and cheese! Like what where they thinking? No offence to the girls in the video, the are just doing their job, but firstly they don't even look Punjabi? A bunch of overdressed girls in a dead club bopping away seductively really relates to the song!? So not clever.  Right I am not going to slate it to much as I can imagine that Tigerstyle may not  be getting the most positive reaction to this video. But seriously what where they thinking guys!??

Sadly this song does not do it for me, even though I can imagine a lot of Tigerstyle fans may disagree. It just didn't work for me...
